Dauphin County ZIP Code Coverage
This Dauphin County ZIP code directory uses the complete 2020 Census ZCTA intersection inventory for County GEOID 42043. It is not a bulk USPS delivery table. The available research verified the County intersection and, where stated, a municipal anchor. It did not bulk-verify a delivery post office, postal-city designation, PO-box status, or service area for every row. “Not bulk-verified” is intentional, not a missing label to fill by guesswork.

The Census TIGERweb ZCTA layer is the source for the intersection method used in the table.
Its geometry can show where a generalized ZCTA reaches the County, but it cannot validate an individual delivery address.
Dauphin County ZCTAs Are Not USPS ZIPs
The Census describes ZCTAs as generalized representations of USPS service areas, not the same thing as ZIP Codes. A ZCTA intersection may capture a cross-county sliver, a river or edge area, or territory whose delivery post office is outside Dauphin County. For that reason, the 46 rows above are a complete geographic inventory, not a claim that every code is a County delivery ZIP. No bulk USPS city or post-office table was available during research.
The Census explanation of ZIP Codes and ZCTAs states the distinction that governs the table.
Use the table to recognize an intersection, then preserve the current result from a postal address lookup before writing a delivery city or post office into research notes.
Verify Each Dauphin County ZIP Address
Delivery is an address-by-address question. Enter the complete address in the current USPS ZIP Code Lookup and retain the returned city and ZIP with the address. The project capture encountered a USPS page-not-found response, so no current bulk field list or outcome is claimed here. A later live result for one address does not convert a ZCTA row into a Countywide post-office assertion.
The captured USPS lookup page represents the individual-address check that should follow any Census geography result.
Once USPS verifies delivery, keep that result separate from the parcel municipality and from a tax-roll mailing ZIP.
Note: A postal result should be retained with the exact address and date, because service labels and address details can change.
Find Records by Dauphin County ZIP Code
A ZIP is a useful narrowing clue, but the captured County portals do not create a ZIP-wide resident roster. Property Info starts with a parcel number, owner name, or site-address fields. Parcel Viewer starts with a PID. The voter request form offers controlled public-information, street, walking, and full-export lists, but no ZIP list. UJS shows address and ZIP fields in some case-search modes, which are court filters rather than an address directory.
- Verify the full delivery address with USPS, retaining the returned postal city and ZIP for that one address.
- Use Dauphin Property Info with the house number and street name, or the parcel number, to identify the situs and municipality.
- Open Parcel Viewer by PID to check the parcel geometry, then follow More Info to the property card.
- Where an Election Code purpose applies, use the state’s signed voter-list request procedure rather than treating a ZIP as permission to browse names.
- When the question becomes one street or address range, use the Dauphin County street directory for the address-record workflow.
County records work best when postal information narrows a known address, then the parcel and municipality establish which local record system applies.
Dauphin County Portal ZIP Limits
The limit is part of the result. Property Info has no ZIP search field, and the Parcel Viewer is PID-only rather than a direct owner-name or street-address search. The County’s Tax Roll GIS metadata also warns that city, state, and ZIP fields are mailing fields, not the physical situs. A mailing ZIP can therefore help contact an owner but cannot be used as a ZIP-wide property-location filter.
| Dauphin Property Info | Parcel Number, Owner Name, Site Address low/high and Street Name, sales, municipality, building and property fields | No ZIP field; at least one input is required |
|---|---|---|
| Parcel Viewer | Parcel ID is and Parcel ID starts with, using the PID format hint | PID-only search; More Info leads to assessment data |
| UJS Case Search | Address, city, state, and ZIP appear in some expanded case modes | A court filter, not a County address directory |
| PA voter-list form | Public-information, street, walking, and full-export request types | No captured ZIP-list route; attestation and statutory limits apply |
The County’s Tax Roll Table metadata makes the mailing-field warning explicit.
Read a mailing ZIP as a correspondence field, then use the situs, municipality, and parcel identifier to locate the relevant County record.
Note: Parcel Viewer information is refreshed weekly and is reference material, not a surveyed boundary or title determination.
Dauphin County ZIP Address Fields
Three address keys should travel together in County research. A situs address is the physical property location in Assessment records. The owner mailing address is where assessment or tax correspondence goes and may be elsewhere. A legal description, UPI, or PID connects a deed, plan, and parcel geometry. Since 2009, recorded real-estate documents require a County-certified parcel number, making the UPI a stronger bridge than a street spelling.
- ZIP and ZIP+4
- A ZIP identifies a postal area. ZIP+4 adds a more specific delivery segment. Neither replaces a parcel identifier in County land records.
- PO-box ZIP
- A code used for post-office boxes. The research did not identify a Dauphin County PO-box inventory, so no row in the coverage table is labeled one.
- Unique ZIP
- A code assigned to a single large recipient or organization. No County unique-ZIP inventory was verified in the research.
- Carrier route
- A postal delivery sequence. It is not a County property boundary, voter precinct, or list of residents.
Dauphin County ZIP Geography for Parcels
Dauphin County has a separate municipal layer that includes Harrisburg and 39 boroughs and townships. A postal city label, parcel municipality, school area, voting precinct, and ZCTA can all differ. That is especially important near County and municipal edges. A Harrisburg mailing label can sit within a broader County record system, while a ZCTA edge can cross a County or municipal line.
The County’s Tax Claim information is a parcel-centered channel after the property is identified.
Its phone-payment instructions use a 15-digit property ID, showing why a verified parcel key is more useful to County records than a ZIP alone. A tax balance is not proof of title or current occupancy.
Dauphin County ZIP Historic Addresses
Before applying a modern ZIP to an older Harrisburg address, translate the historical street form. The City’s house-history guide identifies Cameron Street as former 11th Street and Green Street as former Two and One Half Street. It also warns that individual house numbers can change. Those are documented Harrisburg continuity clues, not a Countywide renumbering rule.
The guide identifies Sanborn map editions from 1884, 1890, 1905, and 1929. Compare the source year, street spelling, and house number first, then work forward to an address that a current postal lookup can test. No Countywide ZIP realignment date, E911 addressing rule, or historical PO-box inventory was located in the research, so none is inferred here.
Dauphin County ZIP Codes and City Limits
City limits do not define a ZIP, and a ZIP does not define County jurisdiction. The coverage table deliberately says only what the ZCTA intersection research supports. Use USPS for the delivery label, Property Info for the physical situs and municipality, Parcel Viewer for parcel geometry, and the Recorder for a recorded document trail. Each system answers a distinct question.
Use the right geography. A verified ZIP can organize an address search, but it cannot identify a complete household or override protected, sealed, or restricted County records.
Note: Preserve the full address, result date, municipality, and parcel key so a postal result can be checked without turning it into a broader claim.
